Essay Topic Selection Tips

Essay Topic Selection TipsThe F.D.A. requires that Frederick Douglass essays are published in print, or on the Internet, if they do not have an audio accompaniment. Now-a-days you can find audio versions of even the most famous public speaking speeches, as well as a range of history writing. Before you take the first step towards putting your voice out there and submitting to a newspaper, magazine or other publishing house, it is best to get to know what is required from you, both by F.D.A. rules and by Frederick Douglass' own rules.Douglass took great pride in his speech and spent years learning the right form of wordplay, and right word structure. He made sure that his speeches were lengthy, so that people would be able to fully understand him. Having good knowledge of word play is important, but it is no substitute for experience.Speaking with an audience that is used to hearing a speaker speak in a certain way is likely to cause them to become more impatient with the sound effect s and pauses, then they would have been, had he spoken the same way to a group of strangers. The problem is often caused by the speakers lack of familiarity with his audience. Most of the time, a public speaker will tend to speak in a relaxed manner, and forget that the audience that he is addressing has not spent any time listening to him. If you are on stage to present a speech, take the time to sit down and read through the paper to familiarize yourself with the topic at hand. This can be achieved in a variety of ways. Try reading a book, which talks about public speaking, or read a lecture, which also provides background information about the topic you are addressing. Getting a feel for your audience is one of the most important parts of the public speaking process. The better you know your audience, the more comfortable you will be speaking to them. The next step is to actually practice speaking to your audience. Read through your speech several times, to get a sense of how you s hould phrase and structure it. This will ensure that you are able to communicate effectively to a live audience. If you are taking a public speaking course, make sure that you learn about sentence structure, and about formulating your sentences. Sometimes when I speak, I use a very structured style of speech, in which I fill my sentences, using the same sentences I have already used in my previous speech. This prevents me from having to break from my previous speeches, and in turn, from speaking to an audience of strangers. However, this can be distracting if you are trying to find the right tone for your presentation. You can also try and find material that uses words that you are familiar with, which will help you develop your delivery. Try and use different vocabulary, and also learn how to speak in a sentence, rather than just delivering a monologue. When you are using sentences, it is important to also notice how other people speak, because people generally do not speak in the sa me way as they speak.Take your time and use some trial and error, to find out how best to improve your public speaking skills. Practice is your only real teacher and will enable you to be fluent at speaking to a crowd of strangers.
